Obituary For Sears Leon Hicks, Sr.

Deacon Sears L. Hicks, Sr. 78, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away peacefully at home on November 10, 2020. He was born on April 16, 1942, in Koenton, Alabama. He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Davis-Hicks (BJ) and their children, Mary K. Cooper, Lawrence D. Davis, Otto Hicks (Angela), Elaine Rush (Wiley), Jacqueline Shamburger (Norman), Sears L. Hicks, Jr. (Pauline), Norman L. Davis (Shayana), Nichole Hicks, Angela Cochran (Jeffery), Maria Norwood. He was predeceased by his parents, Otto and Ludella Hicks.

Growing up in a modest home, Deacon Hicks learned the meaning of faith, service and hard work at a young age. He served his community and the Lord faithfully believing that family and God were the most important part of life.

Deacon Hicks was a devout Christian and served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He had a great passion for discussing the Bible.

Of his many accomplishments, Deacon Hicks was most proud to serve as President and Owner of Bessemer Vault Company, Bessemer, Alabama, for 25 years.

Visitation will be Monday, November 16, 2020 from 1 - 6 PM at Arrington Funeral Home in Birmingham, Al. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Valhalla Cemetery in Midfield, Alabama. Dr. Carl Hill of Zion Star Missionary Baptist Church, officiating.
